The only time a warning box from Avast came up was when I tried to run the Simplify4 filter. The error messages that come up (typed list at end) all seem to involve "not finding end points" in the dynamic link library QtGui4.dll Seven don't work - Clarity, DeJpeg, Detail 3, Lens Effects, Restyle, Simplify 4. Six work - Adjust 4, Adjust 5 (the filter that originally got crashed by AVAST which started all the problems), Denoise5, Detail 2, Infocus and Impression.
Ok, Topaz Lab filters are basically a disaster in both PS 32 and 64 bit versions. Is there anywhere else in Commodo that I should be giving Avast rights? In any event, the file that seems to be the updater appears to have the right to send data out - is there another ruleset that I don't know about that allows data to come in?
This last one seems to be the set up file which I wouldn't think has anything to do with updating, but I could be wrong. These three have the same custom ruleset:Ĭ:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\avastui.exe - CustomĪllow IP out from MAC Any to MAC Anywhere Protocol is AnyĬ:\Program Files\AVAST Sortware\Avast\AvastEmUpdate.exe - CustomĪllow IP Out from MAC Any To MAC Any Where Protocol is AnyĬ:\Program File\|AVAST Software\Avast\AvastSvc.exeīut this one has a different ruleset, which I assume from the red box is blocking it.Ĭ:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\setup\instup.exe - Customīlock and Log IP Out From MAC Any To MAC Any Where Protocol is Any On my Commodo Firewall, under Application Rules, there are 4 Avast entries. Yes check the Topaz filters.Įdit: Do you ever configured exceptions on the Comodo firewall to make sure it doesn't interfere with Avast?Įdited by SleepyDude, 23 June 2015 - 11:36 AM. If you have any ideas on how to overcome this constant "Host Unreachable" problem, I'm all ears! I took a screen shot, but don't know how to post it here.ĭo you want me to run a full scan with the new Avast? Should I try opening Topaz Adjust (and their other filters) to see if this version hates them too? Let me know what to do next. I try to check those statistics daily to make sure I'm getting some kind of updates and the changing numbers tell me that I am. The streaming updates do work - My component statistics said 461 updates were downloaded in the last 24 hours and after I downloaded and installed from the above link, it went up to 462. So, I see nothing has changed in the latest version. I eventually resorted to updating manually whenever Avast said it was unable to update, as suggested in their forum, through their link at I had tried in the past to find a solution to this on their forum, to no avail, even though other users reported the same problem.
So I told it to update and got the same damn "Host Unreachable" message I've been getting for about a year now, whenever Avast alerts me that it was unable to update and I tell it to update.
Then I rebooted again and got an alert that my database was not up to date - really? I had just downloaded the latest full version of the program from Avast's website. Then rebooted, installed Avast 2015, it ran a quick scan - no viruses detected. I downloaded the latest Avast version 2015 (I was on 2014) and their cleaner, disconnected from the internet, uninstalled Avast through Windows, then booted into Safe Mode and ran the cleaner. First, I uninstalled Spybot Search & Destroy because (1) I had only downloaded it a while back to do extra cleaning after I had gotten a previous virus alert from Avast and (2) I was afraid it would conflict with this 2015 version of Avast which seems to be more thorough in it's scanning from what I read on the forum.
